A teenager recalls a day from the past when she resided by the beach and a dog approached her, seeking to play. It romped around in the absence of any other individuals. Lacking a collar, the dog's status as lost, stray, or abandoned remained uncertain. For a few hours, the dog became her companion. Observing its hunger, the girl shared half of her sandwich, but eventually had to depart. She implored her parents to assist the dog, feeling heartbroken as it was affectionate and adorable, reveling in the beach atmosphere. Regrettably, they declined. These joyful recollections of a fleeting connection have endured throughout her life. This poignant memory was hand-painted in an original piece to raise awareness for rescue efforts. In the artist's heart, the dog remained her own.
My Beach Dog Day ♥
Poem by Lynn Raizel Lane
A small dog found me one day on the beach
Permission to keep it was out of my reach
We ran for fun playing in waves of foam
With nobody to claim him and take him home
I fed him some sandwich wishing I had more
That dog was hungry and alone by the shore
I loved him and asked if he could live with me
But my parents said no it was not meant to be
Even though love came for only a day
My beach dog gave me a reason to pray
I trusted God to help this lost good boy
Thanked Him for a day that showed me joy

So cute. Very sweet. This work is realistic enough. To me a painting should look like a painting! It's dreamy (like your memory of this loving moment). Hopefully, this baby found a loving home!

Heartfelt thanks, Chuck! In my 60s and still think of that little dog friend often.. with love and sadness. Thanks for your kind words.

Magnificent portrait of this sweet little dog, Lynn! Wonderful but sad description! L/F/T
Lynn Raizel Lane replied:
Thanks SO very much! I never understand cold hearts towards animals, Hanne. The dog I have now looks similar, and sometimes I call him my sand dog. I no longer live at the beach, but this area is known as the sandhills.

awww, yes, those kind of incidents make me sad too and I remember them too - wishing at times not to remember because it brings tears. I love the way you painted him with his hair unkempt and struggly.
Lynn Raizel Lane replied:
Thank you, Sabina. It makes me wonder WHY fate would be so unkind to such a GOOD and sweet animal? He could have just run away; not being found. I didn't know, but could tell he was away long enough to need help! Thank you for your compassionate comment.
