This beautiful portrait representation showcases a captivating matriarch Irish woman, fondly treasured in memory. Older generations remember the stern gaze most mothers had to quell misbehavior with one eyebrow lifted while giving a glaring look? That put most kids back in line pronto! Despite her firmness, this remarkable woman was warm-hearted, raising three children, then two of her grandchildren. Her passion was to unite the entire family, spanning multiple generations (including other states) with an annual, homecooked Thanksgiving feast to foster family bonds. This Glamour Shot pose was captured with her playful side prior to her fatal battle with cancer. The fancy costume jewelry she wore was slightly askew akin to her quirky, humorously good nature. The fluffy faux fur wrap was a fun addition to her photo session, and this special heroine is deeply missed.
The artist created this portrait painting in a traditional style with acrylics, even though she had limited vision (including one eye legally blind). Her artwork excelled in a competitive art contest where publication was the prize. Her pieces were featured in the Collector's Edition of Fine Art Portraits by Shan Peck, released in January 2022. Additionally, her notable piece Ellis Island Rose was also showcased in the same publication, and she feels grateful and honored by this accomplishment.

As you know :) this is not my favorite, but this is a most excellent portrait painting!! Oh my, I do believe your talent is in portraits, it is beautifully executed.
Lynn Raizel Lane replied:
I appreciate the compliments, Nora. The biggest compliment was when her two daughters actually started crying when they saw it, and said that it looks exactly like her! This portrait was also published on a calendar (representing one month) and in a book featuring Fine Art Portraits Collector's Edition; selected from an art competition here on FAA. I never expected all that :)

Spectacular composition, lighting, shading, colors and artwork! F/L …voted for this piece in the contest EYES ARE THE WINDOW…
Lynn Raizel Lane replied:
Wow, I never know the outcome until I tap into spirituality, as I take myself out of the notion it's only me creating paintings, which I would otherwise fear to even try. I've never been trained to do this. I learned about paints, color mixing, etc. and carefully observed and studied the works of masters. I hope to keep growing as an artist.
