70's Artist Just Me was created as a ghostly ink pen self-reflection sketched inside a high school notebook over fifty years ago. How often do you get to see an artist's first doodling as a child? She was a sweet but lonely freshman teenager in a new school where she was unknown. Lynn was a good student, unpopular owed to minor behavioral issues owed to later discovering it was undiagnosed ADHD getting her into trouble. She was into bicycling, singing in a choir, drama and music, psychedelic posters with black light, art lessons, cats, plus occasionally drawing to alleviate boredom during history class lectures. This rare, impulsive sketch, depicting her perceived self-image, was done in spotty BIC pen ink spontaneously for fun, without much care to be precious in perfection. The sketch is NOT cut off, as sizing had no plan for room to draw feet. Despite this causing her to be unable to finish it after seeing how it turned out better than thought possible, the impromptu picture done on lined paper challenges viewers to interpret it as art, as it reflects the artist's vision of herself with longer hair and fringy bangs, wearing hip hugger bell bottom jeans with hand-painted hippie designs. The artist began incorporating those doodles she thrilled to add to clothing but had been stolen after loaned to frenemies taking a fancy with envy; never returning those items. The sketch shows her sadness over the loss of these jeans, as she tenderly loves her innocent kitten. Wearing one of her favorite polyester shirts, Lynn is also feeling melancholy due to an unrequited first crush.
