Pot Metal Equine Spelter Horse is old, vintage or antique from 1940s, hollow brass, molded design by Gladys Brown Edwards, as this Stallion still REINS King in childhood memories, The artist had this as a toy that was loved and played with over many years, from the 1960s. Cowboys and Indians were a popular game-playing theme back in those days. The artist's brother wasn't gentle with this heavy metal, but she got it back from him. Upon researching for comparisons, the artist was surprised to learn what she thought were dents by her sibling, just happened to be the way this was made. The reins are the original ball chain, and there are incised flowers, a cattle head, and five point stars. This is still displayed in the artist's home. She loves the long, luxurious mane hanging down just one side. Her appreciation for the beauty of horses started young and has been lifelong! The metal is gold tone to look like brass, but it is made with pot metal or spelter. The saddle is part of the mold...
